How to stop automatic uploading from system with a broadband connection?

iam using a broadban connection(256kbps) in india.on my plan only 1 gb download+upload is allowed.

yet now i've used it for 30hours(mostly for orkut,wikipedia etc)

i've made few downloads(upto 40 mb).

on my account it is showing i've made 400 mb upload,40 mb download!!!!

i don't understand from where these uploads are being done

tell me how to stop this uploading?

  1. !GB on BSNL platform is nothing as it includes upload n download.Also most of d programs need regular updates e.g. Antivirus. So better 2 switch 2 unlimited plan....

  2. well ... automatic updates apart .. check your system for malwares ...

  3. any time you look at a webpage, you are uploading info to and from them.  mostly tracking info and pinging data

    the only real way to stop this uploading is to stop using the computer

  4. looks like you are having spyware and trojans in system registry.

    clean them with glary utilities download GU from www.download.com

    Also do a boot scan with antivirus program if you do not find good one then use AVAST.

    uploading should not be so high most like 15-20 % of your download volume as it contains only data in text format ofcourse if you upload movies or pictures it is high.
