How to stop/avoid a take down in a fight?

I'm a very good boxer I guess, but for some reason I do not know how to avoid takedowns. When a wrestler goes for my legs, I just freeze up and he takes me down. I guess i'm not good with my legs. Eventually I end up getting back up but still, I don't want to be on the ground at all. What are some techniques or tips to stop or avoid a take down?

  1. 1 SPRAWL

this means throw your legs back so he cant get at them.  When doing this, you typically support yourself with his body by putting your hands on his back or getting him in a head and arm or some other hold.

    2 SCOOP

this is similar to sprawling but instead of engaging your opponent with a head and arm or something you just push down on their head and "Scoop" them to one side or the other and they typically do a nose dig into the pavement to your left or right side.

When we were taught to scoop in wrestling, we were instructed to take their "F"ing head off....in other words, dont mess around HIT THEM HARD and really try to smash their face into the ground.

practice these two techniques. they are bread and butter.

watch some MMC fights and you'll see dudes sprawling in nearly every fight.

you dont see the scoop as much in MMA.
