Question:

How to stop being so nervous?

I always get nervous. It's a normal thing for me. I'm going to the eye doctor tonight and I'm already nervous. When I'm there, I don't feel nervous, until I try to read the eye chart. My eyes just don't cooperate. I know I'm SUPPOSED to see the letters on there, but I just can't. My parents think my eyes just unfocus because of my nerves. I wish there was somehow I could stop it. It's not like I want my eyes to not work right.

I also get nervous when auditioning for a seat in my high school band. I know I can get into a higher band then I'm placed into, but nerves get in the way and s***w myself over.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to calm my nerves down? I've tried meditating and telling myself not to worry, but it isn't helping so much. Thanks in advance.

  1. Your nervousness may be due to weak body. Have nutritious food. Have energetic food.

You require motivation. You require encouragement. Your relatives and friends can help. Self inspiration may help. Gain courage and be bold.

  2. You sound like you have an anxiety disorder. You should see a doctor about ways he/she can help. Look at this link!

  3. Sadly it is a mental thing. But their are some physiological implications, How do you feel about taking some types of medications? I'm not making fun of you, but you might need some assistance.

  4. i have the same problem and its not necessarily a bad thing to worry but it also can be. i dont think it can be stopped

  5. It sounds like a generalized anxiety disorder and/or social anxiety disorder.  I suffer from the same disorder and I was nervous to the point of making myself sick when I had a dentist appt but when I finally got in there I was fine.  Check out the website www.anxieties.com    There you will be able to take a self test on what you might suffer from.  It will also include helpful tips on overcoming your nerves.  If you continue to have the same problems after that contact a therapist.

  6. You could have GAD ( General Anxiety Disorder) Which is just a fancy diagnosis for saying being nervous all the time.  I have it and once you learn to conquer it you can live freely.  Consider going on an SSRI medication like lexapro which helps GAD and helps me a lot.  You shouldn't have to be nervous all the time its a pain in the butt.  Trust me i know.  I suggest seeing a psychologist who specializes in it.  You will get better soon have faith :]

  7. Meditation.  It is free, simple, and can be done anytime, anywhere.  Focus on your breathing.;  Slowly take a breath in through your nose, hold it briefly, and exhale slowly through your mouth.  A few minutes doing this is guaranteed to work.  The breathing changes the rhythmic pattern of the brain, producing naturally occurring endorphins, which are the greatest stress releasers known to man.
