  1. Your bird is stressed out from all the new surroundings and new people.  You should just let him hang out in his cage for about a week without trying to handle him.  It is good they clipped his wings, and you should keep them clipped at all times.  For now, just hang around your birds cage and talk to him, sing to him and try to hand feed him little treats.  After about 7 or even 10 days, start to handle him, but go slow.  Don't just shove your hand in his cage and expect him to not be a fraid.  Take your time.

  2. Hi

Eventually she will get used to you. Handle her as much as you can and be gentle whilst she is on your finger.  Let her know you aren't going to hurt her by talking to her gently. In time she will look foreward to you when you place your finger in front of her. Always keep your finger above her perch and command her each time by saying "up". To get her more confident when she is on your finger place your opposite finger above and in front of her and say "up" and repeat, repeat, repeat. Keep doing this and one day  you won't have to say "up" each time you present a finger, she will simply hop onto it instinctively.

They are clever little creatures and have loads of personality. My little cockateil had a day play gym that we made from various sizes of round wooden dowel that was set at different heights and angles with swings, ladders, toys and mirrors. He would happily sit, play and sleep on that all day and go off to his cage at night.

She is going to p**p whilst on your shoulder/finger so have cheap tissues ready. We got ours to p**p on command and never had much of a p**p problem after that. He also used to fly off to his play gym and p**p there and then fly back to us or stay on the gym. They also will mimic your mobile tone rings which can be fun or annoying :).

Hope you have fun with her and make the time if you want to train her to do tricks.

Also in time you maybe able to train her to talk so do remember this maybe limited so just stick with the basics like hello, kiss kiss, pretty bird to name a few. Usually the males talk the best. You will also be able to train her to take seeds/treats from your fingers.

    :)

  3. try using a long stick or branch to pick her up ( put it in front of her to walk up on) instead of rushing towards her with your hand.

then as she gets used to that you can mover your hand closer to her.

  4. let her walk around in a room by herself until she is confortable and then hold it in your hands for an long time and let her just sit with you like when your watching tv or just on the net and just let her get used to being free....

  5. Rather than train her not to fly you should train yourself first.  You need to make friends with her.  Do that in the cage first.  Talk to her lovingly and hold your hands to the cage.  Don't point your fingers tho.... just nicely curled fingers in a natural position.

Feed her little bits of treats like an orange slice (not the candy kind - real fruit).  Always move slowly around her cage.

After she accepts you near the cage and close to her and will take treats from you, then you can put your hand in her cage and start the process all over again.

When she gets comfy with that, you can try letting her come out of her cage by herself and talk to her while she perches on top and do the whole process over again.

She will take some time and patience but you will be so happy you did it that way!  She'll learn to love you and trust you and be a great friend!

    Good luck to you!

  6. i had a bird just like that except he slammed so hard he knocked himself out! eventually he go use to me sneaking up on him and when i caught him he would attack my hand with his beak it didnt hurt but it was scary at first but eventually i just let him have full run of the house and he became more friendly but his cage was lower than my height so he had to look up at me its a dominate thing you dont want her thinking she is the boss

  7. Train a bird to stop flying would be like training a fish not to swim.

When my lovebird would fly around the vet office, the vet would turn off the light to get her to stop so we could catch her. This may help to keep your bird from injuring herself if she flies away from you and you can't safely catch her.

  8. Hello again!  when the wings are clipped there are times that they only clip the first four feathers. if she conitnues to fly take her and have them clip her four more back.  8 is the reccomended so that they dont get height.

As for her being scared of you just take your time with her.  open her cage talk softly to her.  ease your hand into her cage so that she gets used to you.  it does take time and patience.

feel free to ask me anything!
