Question:

How to stop biting m nails?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?

grrrrrrrrr me lol im so mad i can't stop biting my nails and sometimes i even bite my skin =O lmao anywayz any ideas on how to stop?? because i bite them WAY too short and they hurt like h**l!! so plz helpers!! =]

  1. I used to bite my nails alll the time! Try having gum on you all the time and whenever you feel the need to bite your nails chew a piece of gum or you can buy this nasty gross stuff and you put it on like nail polish that might work

  4. i know how you feel. my hair was so long, i always bit on it. but i cut it so it doesnt happen so much. i suggest chewing gum.  

  5. I had the same problem a few months back.  I used the special nail varnish solution but that didn't work for me. I found chewing gum or sucking on a sweet helps a lot as it stops you from biting.



    Also maybe if you get acrylic nails done than this may stop you biting and when you get them removed your nails will have grown as well. =]

  6. In some occasions you could wear gloves to help cut down on biting especially in public. At during the house cut your nails often so there isn't that much to bite and your nails would grow use to being cut and wouldn't hurt even if they were short. You could also find something else to do instead of biting your nails. Like.... tapping your fingers together. Its less painful. I used to bite my nails i know what its like. any time i was about to bite my nails i would tell somebody when they notice to say stop biting your nails. It worked for me maybe it will work for you

  7. Get your nails done.  Get acrylic nails, or just a polish.  I wouldn't want to mess them up after that.

  9. i stopped biting my nails by wearing bandaids on every finger for awhile, or gloves. it makes you more aware that you're doing it... looks goofy, but it works.

    it makes your nails taste gross and bitter so you know when you're doing it and you stop.

  10. Yeah lol I'm going through that too but if you forget that you bite your nails you will probably start to slowly stop biting them.

    I just started to chew gum, sugar free, at ALL times.

    my sister used to pick her fingers she had to wear a glove on her hand to stop!!!!

    OR GET A REALLY EXPENSIVE NAIL JOB THAT WILL MAKE YA STOP!!!!!

  16. I used to have a huge problem with nail biting. I would sit on my hands whenever i had the urge. I would make a decision to THINK about biting my nails and not just allow myself to find myself biting them.

    I put in tons of mental power into it. But it was worthwhile. I quit so very many years ago and never picked up the habit again. My husband quit while we were married. You just have to think about it and gum does help to some degree, but you'll still need to find something to do with your hands. You can also keep carrot sticks around and nibble them. But you need to stop the cycle of chewing when you are nervou or anxious. Otherwise you'll just go back when you are out of gum or carrots.

    You can do it! Think how nice your hands will look! Tell yourself you'd like to try having a nail whenever you get the urge to bite them. Think of how many nasty surfaces you touch daily. How clean is that keyboard you are typing one right now or the mouse? The desk? The doors outside. ICK. think how much you could be putting into your mouth. It helped me.  

  17. Put something that tastes bad or feels bad on your nails so every time you bite them, you'll taste it and won't want to. Or.... paint your nails so when you bite them, the paint comes off and all your hard work (or money if you go to a salon) went out the window. Or.... when you want to bite your nails, chew your favorite flavor of gum.

When I was much younger, I had the nail biting habit.  My father would make me sit on my hands each time he saw me biting my nails.  It made me aware of when I was biting my nails.  If this is something you want to stop, try to be aware of what you are doing.  When you catch yourself biting your nails, you can stop yourself.  As time goes by, you will be more aware of when you are biting your nails, and should be able to stop yourself.

  19. well what i did, soak your nails in nail polish remover once a day. Therefore when you go to bite your nails, you wont want to because it will taste baddddddddd!

    Once you start to ignore the nails and you dont have the urge to bite em stop soaking them. It worked awesome for me!

    i soo get jealous when a see a girl with long,pretty nails & so i make THEM jealous by wearing fake ones.... and u can also wear this substance on ur nails that makes u not wana bite them...  

  21. You can buy "Stop nail biting nail-varnish". It tastes REALLY gross so you are less tempted to bite your nails. =]
