How to stop hum/buzz in computer subwoofer?

Hi, I have a sound card and 5.1 speaker system on my computer. Last night the subwoofer started humming/buzzing, so I had to mute everything because I didn't want anything to "blow." Is this static because of the cold, dry winter air? How can I fix this so I can play music again? I'm dying without it! lol

  1. It's not static. More likely, you've got a loose connection somewhere, or something metallic touching one of the speaker wires or sound cables.

  2. try changing your starting over check wiring and change your rca wire( jack could be bad) going from  output on your computer  into your sub input...

  3. Try looking for something like the link I sent ya. Also, there is an a/c adaptor that takes the three prong plug and brings it down to two prongs. It's a ground isolator to. It helped me when I was having trouble similar to yours. Try those suggestions. Do the three prong to two prong idea 1st. You can get that at any harware store. If it costs u more than $2, your getting robbed. G'luck. Let me know how it does if u are successful. Thx!
