  1. turn you foot to the side then use your toe pick and dig it into the ice

  2. when you skate really fast and turn both feet like this \\ or // that way it's called a hockey stop. That is more for a controlled skater. I am a figure skater and after a few weeks with my coach I learned that. If you are just a skater having fun stick to a snow plow which your feet is like this / \ to stop or another version once you learned the / \ is the one foot snow plow like \ or / just with one foot. basically to stop in my lessons it was the two foot snow plow / \ then once I mastered that I learned the one foot snow plow / or \ then it was the hockey stop // or \\  hope that helps!

  3. What you want to learn how to do is the hockey stop.

First, break it down into small steps; the first one being the snow plow stop. Master the snow plow stop (the one where you push both feet to the side) then move on.

The next step is to master the "T-stop." This can be achieved by skating forward, then putting your left (or right) skate's heel touching the back of the other skate (forming a "T") and it should be perpendicular to the other skate.

Mastering those two stops gives you a feeling of using the outside and inside edges of the skates.

When you do the actual hockey stop you'll be using the front inside edge of the skate in front and the back outside edge of the skate in behind.

To actually get down the hockey stop you have to twist really fast, digging into the ice. It takes time, and you'll definitely fall a few times.

    Good luck!

  4. go really fast and then turn your feet sideways and dig into the ice

  5. u have to be confident when u go for the stop or ull fall

you want to stop at a perfect turn and lean back so u dont go flying forward

jut go to the rink and practice man.

  6. I usually put my right foot behind my left to stop this would leave a skidding mark on the ice.

to do the one where the ice flies up, you would turn onto you side and put pressure on your foot ... that doesn't make much sense what i wrote lol but i tried..
