  1. Watch The Simpsons or watch anything funny. Be happy. And yeah, like what the other guy said, think positive.

  2. you don't, but you can try to transmute all the energy from the negative thoughts and build something positive from it.

  3. Realize that the longer you harbor these thoughts, is another second of your life wasted.

We simply DON'T have enough time in this life to waste our energy on negativity and bad feelings.

  4. I know exactly what to do. You see, I grew up hearing negativity all my life so naturally I was thinking negative thoughts without even being aware of it.

    1) Catch yourself when you think these thoughts and turn them around. It's like, you can't throw dead stinky fish into the same pond as fresh, healthy fish. You gotta get rid of the dead ones.

Catch yourself thinking negatively and turn those thoughts around. You can catch yourself when you think something that makes you feel angry, guilty or resentful. Chances are it's a negative thought causing that feeling.

    2) Practice, practice, practice. Look for opportunities. The more practice, the quicker and better you'll get at it.

I'm not the queen of optism but, like most people, I'm working on becoming better at it.

  5. Stopping our negative thoughts or any thoughts for that matter can be very frustrating. I used to worry all the time and found that by the end of the day I was exhausted and sometimes I had not done anything physical to make me feel that way.

What I came to understand is that there is a very good reason for our thoughts to come into our heads as they do and when they do. We are always making some sort of calculation if you will, and thus it is really impossible not to be thinking of something all the time.

I found a really neat video that describes very well an answer to your question if you are interested. It does a great job explaining the root of our thoughts and our need to understand why we have them. I hope it helps. Best wishes.

  6.   When you notice  something negative, such as: "I'm never going to get over this!" or: "Why am I always so pathetic/useless/such a loser?" or even: "I can't do this/will never get over this!", or a disturbing image, recognise that this is part of the mindset which will hold you back.

Having identified and labelled it, I first visualise a large  "STOP!" sign, then I say to myself as forcefully as I can, even aloud in a big voice, if alone: "I know this tactic: GO AWAY FOR A WHILE !!!" You may want to use either: "ruse", "ploy", "game", or "trick", instead of "tactic". In the case of an image, visualise a large "STOP" sign, or your preferred version.

Some people go so far as to keep a wide rubber band in their pocket, then put it around their wrist, when they catch themselves backsliding, stretch and release it, as a method of reprogramming their mind sooner, but I don't regard it as being strictly necessary. Remember to remove it, afterwards, if you use this method.

  7. Honestly, I have no clue.

Which means I am no help to you...sorry

I've asked this question a million times, and have tried to think posotive thoughts...but I just can't. Everything I think always has a negative side.

Example: I wanna go to my school dance...my thoughts, "What happens if nobody dances with me? What happens if my best friend dances with more guys than me?"

I don't think its so much of negativity, as it is low self esteemm and a dented confidence. Negative thoughts come from people that are not that confident in who they are and what they are doing.

So the problem isn't "thinking posotively...but being more confident and self assured in yourself. Finding answers to all your questions, and coming up with solutions.

    Haha...I don't know if I helped you any..but I just answered my own question. So...thanks. =]

  8. To be in a place where you feel secured and relaxed

  9. Some Physical Causes of Depression

Medical research has associated the following things with the development of depression in some people:

Toxic metals and chemicals: lead, mercury, aluminum, carbon monoxide, and some insecticides

Nutrient deficiencies: certain vitamins and some essential minerals

Infectious diseases: tuberculosis, mononucleosis, viral pneumonia, hepatitis, and influenza

Endocrine-system diseases: thyroid disease, Cushing’s disease, hypoglycemia, and diabetes mellitus

Central-nervous-system diseases: multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease

ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€ÂœRecreational” drugs: PCP, marijuana, amphetamines, cocaine, heroin, and methadone

Prescription drugs: barbiturates, anticonvulsants, corticosteroids, and hormones. Some medications that treat high blood pressure, arthritis, cardiovascular problems, and some mental disorders

(Certainly, not all such medicines will cause depression, and even when there is a danger, it usually involves a small percentage of those who use the drug under the proper medical supervision.)

Along with depression these can cause negative thoughts.

    I Hopes this helps.

  10. Reply back to those negative thoughts with two positive ones. Eventually, the negative thoughts will dissipate.

  11. Negative thoughts are self perpetuating and can actually become a self fulfilling prophecy. You are right to want to stop them.

You can't totally get rid of negative thoughts....they are natural and useful in some cases. In some situations I have been told (and have thought) that I have been negative. After closer evaluation, in some cases, I have determined that I am not negative, but realistic. There are some situations that ARE negative and thinking of them positively is counterproductive...IE, you won't be able to solve the problem unless you are realistic.

That being said, to get rid of negativity, each time you have a negative thought, try to see SOME positive about it. IE...."I am a fat slob"....know that you do have other positive qualities and those will help you solve the problem of being fat. Do something positive about your weight...IE exercise, make better eating choices, etc. Then, if you have the "I'm a fat slob" thought again, KNOW that it is a temporary situation and that you are working on it.

Also, this will work in other negative situations. KNOW that solving a negative situation is a 'journey' not a destination. Working on that problem puts it in a more positive light.

Fill your life with positive things. Help others, this is a major self esteem and energy booster!

Practice random acts of kindness. Compliment people. GIVE what you need, IE if you need respect, GIVE it. You will get it in return (maybe not from the same person). If you see someone at the local store paying for (ya, maybe even beer and cigarettes?) stuff with pennies, give them a couple bucks. Put money into collection jars. Send a check to a charity. Volunteer at a nursing home for a day IE crafts, visiting, etc. Attend services (if you don't already) at random churches.....just to see what they do and to give thanks.

Practice gratitude.....no matter what your situation, there are things to be grateful for. Keep a gratitude journal....write SOMEthing in it EVERYday (even on bad days) that you are grateful for.

Filling your life and mind with positive thoughts will 'push out' negative thoughts. You should notice an almost immediate difference.

    Good Luck!

  12. I know this may sound stupid, but it helped me. To stop negative thoughts, you gotta think positive. It's hard but once you find yourself talking negatively abouts something or someone, stop yourself, and talk about the good things. If you keep doing this, it'll become a habit, and soon will eliminate any negative thoughts from entering the mind. At least... that last bit is what someone told me.

    lol.
