Some one said you can store in ground by burying them. Does anyone know how this is done.

  1. The best way to keep them for several months is to pull the cabbages up (roots and all) tie together in bundles and hang in a well (not in water). Cool, moist and free from pests.

  2. Farmers etc. will store cabbage in a cool environment to prolong their life,  and this is sometimes continued in supermarkets etc.  Too much drying sunlight and heat will advance their deterioration.

There are commercial chilling units available,  fridges at home, but any environment with a stable cool temperature will help.  Burying them potentially leaves them open to be nibbled by slugs etc.

Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob
