  1. It's AC, so you will need to rectify it.  Preferably using Schottky diodes for the low voltage drop, or -- if you can get hold of one -- an old-fashioned selenium rectifier.  Then store it in open-vented lead-acid batteries.  You don't need any charging regulator with these batteries; if you try to overcharge them, they will just bubble a bit more vigorously.  (However, disconnect the battery at once if you smell sulphur -- unless it is the first ever charge -- as it means you are applying a serious overcharge.  But the first time you charge a brand new battery that has just been filled with acid, it will smell a bit of sulphur -- this is not much to worry about.)  Type YB9B is a very popular  (and hence inexpensive)  motorbike battery rated 12V, 9Ah.  


  2. Battery.

    Not sure what dynamo you have, but the output is likely AC & rather variable.

    Batteries, like a motorcycle lead-acid battery (easy & cheap) are rather tolerant of the charging voltage varying, but you'll likely need a rectifier to make it DC first.  (Full bridge will work best, but you can use a single diode & still get the effect.depends on what efficiency you want.)

    If the voltage out of the dynamo varies a lot, like when you cycle quickly, or the windmill really blows, or similar, then the difference between the dynamo & the battery might be big, so the diode will see a high current.  You may need to limit the current somehow, or rate the diode for the current.
