My boss asked this question and I have no idea. Here is his message...

We need to take wire off a spool and straighten & cut it off at 21.25" long.

Someone should make a wire straightening & cutoff machine. We need to know who, how much $, & how soon we can get one.

The wire we are straightening is .031 dia. 302 stainless steel coated wire.

The spool is 26# for 10,000 feet of wire.

  1. Use a combination of three pulleys in succession. One above the other two.  This will straighten out the wire and prevent twisting as you pull the wire through.

The pulley should have either a "V" configuration or acceptable to have guide pins in front and behind the pulley fixture.

  2. The straightening part is easy. Just wrap it once around a rod, say a half inch in diameter, and pull from there. You'll need to have a bit of tension on the spool. It'll come off perfectly straight. The cutting I leave up to you.
