How can I submit my idea to a company like Coca Cola, for example, and ensure that they do not take it without credit or compensation should they choose to use it?

forget it, I did that kind of work professionaly and it's very rare for such companies to sign a agreement to such effect.

It's opening the floodgates for lawsuits.
