Question:

How to successfully market/advertise an upscale Indian restaurant?

We've recently acquired an fine Indian restaurant in downtown Montreal. On the particular street which we're located on, we have competition from numerous angles, namely 4-5 popular bars and another indian restaurant adjacent to our restaurant, which boasts more buffet choices and more dining space.

my question is, given the insurmountable competition, what are the best methods to successfully market and advertise our restaurant? Which mediums should we use? How would we make it stand above the competition and make our restaurant the number 1 destination for fine Indian cuisine in Montreal? Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions.

you can get much information in this website, stay a minute in website and check anyone link at a time, you can aslo get your answer in Google Search in this website, which has helped me alot

  2. Maybe appeal to businesses?  If you are upmarket, look for a point of difference you can offer them......  Do you have a website?  Do you have an email database?  If not, make some calls to surrounding business and get hold of email addresses of Executive and Personal Assistants and send them video email - showing how amazing the ambience of the restaurant is....  Introduce yourself on video and how you are going to make it a unique dining experience for business people - that you can have them in and out in an hour - an express menu or a more extenisve menu.... lots of ideas.  Even set up a broadcast of the kitchen via webcam so people can see what is going on and how authentic it is.  You need to unique, even quirky selling point.

Collect business cards in the old "fishbowl" on the coutner and once a week or fortnight or month, someone gets a complimentary meal.... Video them the good news!  With timely reminders of specials etc.  You will be the only one doing it in the strip!

Check out the website below to see how you can use video to showcase what you have and really promote yourselves differently.  Can have it for under US $120 a year.... pretty amazing. (And if you are dealing with business, maybe you might want an affiliateship because you will get paid if anyone sees and wants to use what you are doing!  Another income stream!!)  :-)

Let me know if I can help at all and provide support.  Check out the video streaming page and if you want to see how I use this tool in my newsletter for my business, I will send you one.  Just fill in the details on the contact me page.

    Good luck!

  3. Just think about what type of crowd that you want to attract. What age group goes to the bars and restaurant in that area? What is special about the restaurants that the demographic of your interest like, and how do they advertise? Is it the music, atmosphere, interesting choices of the menu, or the familiar sense of the menu? Do they like minimalistic decoration or festive? You could also try giving your card to some of the people who dine at your restaurant and ask them to call and talk about what they like and don't like about your restaurant, or what would bring in their friends, family, and in general more people. Its a bit classier than a tabletop survey, and your patron's may feel more attached to your restaurant because of you showing concern on a personal level. If they think you like them, they can't help but like you back.
