How to swim faster?

I'm on the swim team and I've been on for a while, but I'm having trouble really pushing through. I can't reach a certain time standard in any of my events. I don't know if it's because I'm not preparing myself, or if it's a state of mind, and how do I get confidence? Like confidence is one of my issues but how do you *Get* confidence? I'm like 5 foot 3 and 125 lbs. What can I do to break through my "swimmer's block"? And what techniques can I use when I'm out of the water? Like what things can I do or exercises I can do when I'm not swimming? I have a swim meet in one week, and I really need to just push through.

  1. Based on the way you've worded your question, I'll assume that you're already taking care of the physical preparation, and what is lacking is your mental preparation.

So much of what separates champions from the rest of the pack is mental. Start visualizing perfect races. Spend time lying down in a relaxed state where you run through your key events. Feel your powerful push on the water, hear your teammates scream, see your goal time on the scoreboard. Incorporate as many vivid sensations as you can. Practice it over in your mind until it feels inevitable. When race time comes, your brain will make it so. You'll be able to say, "this is exactly how I thought it would be."

  2. probably work out some more when you are not in the water

    build muscles

    hugs!

  3. work out at the gym every day working your quadroceps, and biceps

  4. i think u shud practice some more and try really hard!!!!!!!!

  5. if you wanna swim faster just move your hands and legs faster and don"t do long breaths.breathe in and let out half of the air

  6. practice by swimming with the sharks and the dolphins!!!!! but its better to swim with sharks especially when they are chasing u

  7. Shave your whole body with the exception of whats in your cap or suit of course. This will cut down on drag.
