  1. I developed the same problem after updating to 2.0.  Just got off the phone (1.5 hours) with two people from ipod support.   First they said that it should not back up every time and had me do a "restore"  The problem was still there.  Then they said that the new software does do a back up  everytime you sync and they would let the engineers know that it is creating problems for people.  I was then told that I could just click on the "x" in the window that says it is backing up, and that would stop the back up and the ipod would then continue to sync.

Obviously, you should not have to stop the back up everytime you sync.  Also, the back takes a long time (10 minutes for me)  At first I was told that it should not take that long and they had me change to different USB ports....Same problem slow back up. I was then told that they would report this to the engineers.  Based on what I read on the internet and what I was told this is a common problem that the people from iPod have not solved.  So for now it seems the solution is to just stop the back up each time you sync in order to speed up the syncing process.  Also,  you should do at least one complete backup (then an occasional one) then there is no harm in stopping the back up each time you sync.   However, it is always a good idea to back up you iTunes to a disk.

If you find out another solution to this problem before the iPod people solve it I would be interested in learning about it.

  2. I have the same problem it's a bug I think apple will fix it soon

  3. Yes. You will loose all the data.

  4. I have the same problem. It's been 2 hours and my iPod is still being "backed up". When I wnet to the Apple store they said there is a way to remove the backing up prosess, but i didn't bring my computer so they could not help me. I called Apple, but talking to there agents is like talking to a 1st grader! None of them are competent. I am 15 years old and I'm smarter then the bone heads that work on Apple's phone lines. If you find a solution to this problem please tell me.
