  1. Registration

        

    To practise nursing or midwifery in Singapore,a nurse or midwife must be registered with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) & possess a valid practising certificate.

    An applicant who wishes to apply for registration is required to have successfully completed one of the following accredited pre-registration nursing courses in Singapore.

    Register of Nurses for Registered Nurses

    Diploma in Nursing

    Nanyang Polytechnic



    Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing)

    Ngee Ann Polytechnic



    Roll of Nurses for Enrolled Nurses

    An applicant who completes a nursing course outside Singapore will have to satisfy the Board that it is equivalent to an accredited nursing course in Singapore.The applicant may be required to sit for an examination,undergo a competency assessment & place on provisional registration or enrolment.

    Temporary Registration & Enrolment

    The Board also provides for temporary registration/enrolment to enable a person:

    (a) to teach,undertake research or study in Singapore

    (b) to undergo training under a training scheme approved by the Board;or

    (c) to provide voluntary nursing or midwifery service under a volunteer nursing scheme or volunteer midwifery scheme approved by the Board

    A temporary registration or enrolment shall not exceed 2 years & may be renewed for periods not exceeding 12 months at a time.

    General requirements

    All applications shall be made on a prescribed form & submitted together with the following documents.

    1) Letter of employment if applicant is trained outside Singapore.

    2) Certified copy of :

    NRIC,birth certificate,passport or marriage certificate where applicable;

    Registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife or enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse (registration or enrolment certificate & practising certificate);

    Training certificate

    Transcript of Nursing Education (with the breakdown in theory & record of clinical experience in hours);

    Work testimonials

    (The above documents must be certified true copies of original certificates/documents by the employer in Singapore)

    3) Verification of registration/enrolment to be sent directly from Registration/Licensing authority to Registrar,Singapore Nursing Board,16 College Road, #01-01,College of Medicine Building,Singapore 169854.

    4) Transcript of nursing education to be sent directly from the training institution to Registrar,Singapore Nursing Board,16 College Road,#01-01,College of Medicine,Building,Singapore 169854.

    5) Any document that is not in English shall be accompanied by a certified translation in English.

    The Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) is the regulatory authority for nurses & midwives in Singapore.Its scope & functions are defined in the Nurses & Midwives Act for the purpose of registration,enrolment of nurses,the registration of midwives & the certification of Advanced Practice Nurses & related matters.
