Somebody told me that he took a math class online, but he didn't pass the class. The reason is when he took a math test, there are some operation symbol that he couldn't type by the computer, and he couldnot graph a function. Is that ture?? Is it possible to take a math online? I'd like to take the calculus.

  1. If your friend was taking a class online, and had problems, it's probably because he didn't read through the class syllabus to see that he needed to download a program to allow for the math work. There are specific programs out there that allow for the notations in math (exponents, complex fractions, derivative and integration symbols, graphing, etc.) Usually online classes go through a specific portal to access the class, and some of these functions are already included in the portal, but others are a separate program you have to install to do the work.

To answer your question, YES! There are so many ways to take a class online! Even calculus and other higher math classes.

Local community colleges, on-line high schools, virtual high schools, curriculum suppliers that offer classes for virtual schools, the choices are plentiful! I've included some links to a few, but they are only a few of the many choices. Some states even offer their own online high schools to provide their local schools with alternatives for classes. My state- Utah- even offers an online high school. They used to offer classes for anyone, but now they only offer it for Utah students.

Good luck researching the options, and the various prices. If your state offers an online high school, the course could be free, but expect to pay if it's through another source.

  2. Yes you can. There are ways to input things. Normally this is in the syllabus or you email the instructor of the class and get an answer. I have taken  many online courses including chemistry with a lot of math and those arent the easiest!
