I have a Dell dimension 2400 desktop PC and I'm trying to install a IEEE 1394 Firewire PCI Card onto the motherboard. Well there are only five screws on this PC that can be taken off from a Phillips screwdriver. There are 4 where the power supply is located and one located on the bottom. The other screws are a circle shape and does not appear that they can be removed. I have no idea how to get inside my PC nor can I find any data that can help me. Anyone who can help me please do so! I will award best answer ASAP!

Thanks in advance!

  1. there appears to be one s***w holding the cover on. turn the back to face you its in the lower right hand corner remove that s***w.

put one hand ontop of the case with the other hand in sort of a slapping motion remove the side cover this is best achieved by using the palm of your hand to slide the side cover off.

  2. look straight at it on the side that you put the cd in.  Now look on the left side.  That whole side comes off.  On the back there are some bigger screws that are obviously different.  Take these off and slide the panel back.  You're in.

  3. At the top rear of your tower there is a lever that you pull out then the right side of the tower hinges downward and lifts off

  4. Dang, looks like I'm a little late to collect the 10 pts. Anywayz, getting inside the case can be the hardest part of ANY pc! Just remember that it shouldn't take a lot of force.

    no screwdriver required.

  6. first, when opening your computer case, make sure you are grounded. either make sure that you have an anti-static wristband or at least, you are constantly in contact with something metal and preferably grounded its self. to open a dell 2400, first look on the back top and bottom of the case. there should be a darker depressed area on the top and bottom. press these inwards and pull the case open from the back. it should open like a book. you will need to remove the metal cover from one of your pci openings on the back of the case and then insert the card into the pci slot that lines up with the opening. s***w it in with the s***w that came out when you removed the cover from the pci opening. remember to make sure that the card is properly seated in the slot.

  7. Her's an online manual:

    Hope it helps.

  8. today is your lucky day, i looked down and realized that i have the same exact machine, what you have to do is, you should not have to remove any screws but you should see a black square on the back, it looks funny because it is very useful what you do is set the computer on its side with the block facing up and then you pull it up or down depending on when it was made and pull the pannel back away from the front of the computer and you are in,

  9. okay, i dont know exactly what it looks like but dell does weird things...dont take out the ones around the powersupply. try taking out that other one though.  Now dell usually has buttons on the side that you can push in and slide it or lift it some how. also sometimes there are little levers to press or things to pull. search for it and press and tug on everything... dont look for screws though, waste of time... dell always makes it fun...
