  1. You need to keep it warm i think, shine a light down on it. put it in a cardboard box with some soft bedding like wood shavings or straw. Feed it something ssweet i think that's what lorikeets like, something like sugary water. i'm not sure. make sure it has lots of fresh water. when it gets older put in a perch and let it outside for some exercise.

  2. Lorikeets are NOT first time birds and unless you've done your research on their proper care you should find someone who already has them and give it to them.  They require a special Lorikeet diet that other species of birds don't need because they are nectarivores (nectar eaters).  Yorkshire Duck, please don't attempt to answer questions unless you provide something useful for the person asking the question to use.

  3. Without excately knowing how small it is....

If its only a few weeks old you can place a lamp over the cage to keep it warm. The bird can be kept warm at about 32deg. Buy a therm..from your local pet store and pop it in the cage to monitor the heat. Turn the lamp off at night! You can put a wheat bag/water bottle under a towel wrapped up into a doughnut shape to keep it warm...(make sure its not to hot or you will kill the bird!)...again, use the therm to moniter the heat.

Lorikeets are mainly nector eaters. I am assuming its self feeding?? If so buy a wet dry mix and feed it that. Becareful though as if its to young and is a messy eater the nector can stick to them like glue and its extremely hard to get off! I have heard of some carers using baby soap to wash it off!...Dont soak the bird, gently wipe it with a cloth..(soapy water)..

When its older you can feed it soft fruits moving onto harder fruits when its older.

You should made aware that some lorikeets are classed as pests!!! Rainbow Lorikeets for example! If you wish to keep a Rainbow Lorikeet you must apply for a licence from your local conservation dept. One of the conditions are that they are kept in a double doored avairy. Fines are huge if you are caught without a license!

If you are not confident you are able to care for the bird then please pass it onto someone who is, (personally without the experience I think you should do this anyway, Im only giving you the advice I have because I wouldnt want you feeding it the wrong thing and killing it!!!).
