ok, i have like 4 of them. but it has been soooo long since i have had one, i just want some different opinions on taking care of them. i got it on vacation in florida. he told me to stay out of the salt water. but i got splashed once. i am hoping that does not affect it. i am washing it lightly with anti bacterial soap and putting neosporin on it. he told us to wash it with anti bacterial soap and put lubriderm on it. mine is scabbing up and it hurts. but i think it may have done that in the past til it heals. i just cant remember. anyone out there have any suggestions. i just wanna make sure i dont mess it up.

  1. all  you need to do is wash it in warm water 3/4 times a day and rub a little unscented lotion, like e45 or nappy rash ointment in really well.

    wait two weeks and enjoy!!

  2. No neosporin. It has been found to cause allergic reactions, forming little bumps that leave little spots without color, no petroleum products. No fragrances or dyes, nothing with Lanolin (especially if you are allergic to wool)

I am of the Lubriderm lotion only, after washing with antibacterial soap with washed fingers (no cloths), and patting dry with clean paper towels.

Pat dry whenever it seeps, no sun, no swimming, no soaking, no direct streams of water, sunblock ONLY after it has healed to skin. Baby it, no picking at it.

  3. I got mine about a month ago. And I washed it 3-4 times a day and put tattoo goo on in. Then after it was done peeling, took about 3 days, I only washed it once a day and started putting non fragrance lotion on it.

  4. i use polysporin CREAM (regular polysporin is too greasy and will make the colour bleed) 3 times a day for the first 3 days.

for the following 3 weeks, use an unscented moisturizer (i use lubriderm) 3 times a day.

other than that, avoid tanning, soaking it in water for excessive amounts of time (swimming), and when it gets dry, try not to pick at it!

  5. Having read the others tattoo remarks, the reason for no bacitracin is that some have an allergic reaction, so why go there. Your going to have a fever under the skin for a couple of days so shower and wash with green soap. This is the smell of a tattoo parlor !.

If the shop is clean you should have no worries , stay out of the sun: ie " cover the ink " put a bandage while out in the sun.

  6. You aren't supposed to use Neosporin or other greasy ointments or antibacterial creams. The skin won't be able to breathe and it takes longer to heal as well as fading the color. Lubriderm is recommended as a safe, gentle, hypoallergenic lotion to use. But really, you should call the artist, not ask strangers. Only the artist who did it will be able to give you their instructions for it, and that's the only way they can guarantee it will turn out well.

Aftercare instructions from the parlor I'm going to (bottom of the page). They've been tattooing for over 30 years so they should know:
