How to take care of nintendo ds?

Is it safe to turn it on and off while playing a game? Like, I want to play a new game because the one I was playing before was too boring. Is it safe to turn it off and then add a new game and turn it on? Just in general, what is the best way to take care of my ds? I don't mind losing files from the game or because it wasn't saved, but I'm afraid it might ruin the system. Thanks =)

Don't drop it

Clean the screen regularly

Buy a slip for it

Don't take games out while playing

Buy a good warranty

Don't vandalise it (don't go over the top on stickers)

Keep it out of the sunlight for long times

Keep it away from water

Don't let anybody else play it (mine got ruined by a cousin)

no it wont destroy it i do it only about 5 times during i had it and i have had my ds for 2 years so its fine to dont worry
