I recently remove out carpet that was very old. Now there are awful stains on the wood. Is there any way to remove stains, without having to replace the whole floor. I can not afford to replace the wood. And if it can't be saved I will have to cover it with a area rug. Please help.

  1. From http://www.essortment.com/all/cleaningha...

Collect a no.1 steel wool pad, and a floor cleaner, or perhaps mineral spirits. Clean the spots or stains and the surrounding region. Dampen a cloth with normal household vinegar and carefully wash the area. It may take a short while but the stain will most likely vanish. If by chance the spots are still noticeable use fine sandpaper and sand, feathering around edges about 4 inches. Re-wax and polish the floor.

  2.      the only way I know to remove stains in wood is to sand It out. You would have to stain, seal, and put a clear coat on the intire room. I have done this before and will help you through the prosses. If you would like. First you would have to rent a sander. youcan get it at most Home Depos.
