Line up your shot by lining the cue ball with the ball you're aiming for. Once you have a clear shot, aim at the center of the ball (given you want a straight on shot). Aim a few times at the same spot on the cue ball, visualizing where the stick will hit the ball. Once you have that spot in your mind, look at the ball you're aiming for (not the cue ball). Using your arm like a pendulum, pull back on the stick and thrust forward (either with speed and force, or finesse). The ball should fly towards the object ball and hit it into the pocket.
