What program do you use to take stills from DVDs?

    File>Open Disc>Choose the drive that your DVD is in

    Play the DVD, Pause when you get to the spot. You can even slow down the playback so you're more precise by clicking the double-arrow pointing left. You should be able to slow down more than once even.

    File>Preferences>Video will let you choose where to save the files, and you can save to .png (compressed with no loss of quality) or .jpg (compressed with some quality loss, but smaller file size than .png)

    When you're ready to take a snapshot, File>Video>Snapshot will save a snap to the folder you have specified.

    Control+Alt+S should be the keyboard shortcut to take a snap if you don't want to use the file menu.

    If you were so inclined, you could even take a frame-by-frame snap and turn those frames into an animated .gif picture (with some other program such as photoshop)
