How to talk to husband about wanting to have a baby now?

We just got married in May--I'm 26, he's 24 and we both have good jobs. We both agreed before we were married that we would wait until our first anniversary to start TTC. Last month, however, we thought we were PG. I went off the pill just in case we were and then AF showed up. We had both gotten so excited at the thought that we were going to have a baby that it really just devastated us when AF came. Well, since then we've been batting around the idea of TTC now instead of waiting until next May, but haven't actually had a serious discussion about it. I so long to be a mom and I know he is just going to be the best dad!! He loves kids and talks about how he wants to be a daddy. How do I tell him that I don't want to wait anymore even though that's what we both agreed on when we first got married?

  1. Say "hey, how would you feel about moving the schedule up? why or why not?" and then take it from there.

He's your husband- you should be able to have these conversations with him. Hear what he has to say, state your piece, and then find a middle ground that you can both live with. Maybe he will suprise you and say "I agree"- but you have to talk to him.

  2. Just ask him if he is feeling the same way, it sounds like he is, but if he wants to wait, you should try to respect his feelings too. Just talk it out!

  3. Really, I would just talk to him about it.  When I got married last year my hubby and I were gonna wait to start ttc till March of this year.  Well we kept talking and I kept wanting it sooner.  We would talk it over and see how both of us were feeling and we actually started trying after I quit my bc pills october 2007.  We hadn't conceived as of June of this year and I went to a reproductive endocrinologist and was diagnosed with PCOS.  So now I'm currently getting treatment and will start my fertility meds next week.  Looking back I'm so very happy we didn't wait till March to ttc.  I can't wait to be a mom and I know that my husband will be such an awesome dad as well!  Pregnancy can happen right away after quitting bc pills for some people and others it can take longer.  Generally speaking a healthy fertile couple could take up to a year to conceive.  But I had irregular periods, so I new somthing had to be up.  Everyone's different. Good Luck and Best wishes to you and your husband!!
