  1. I agree with the two posters above me but they forgot to mention one thing. You need to separate the birds during the beginning of the training because you're trying to get the birds to bond with you first and the other bird second. If you don't do that you'll never have as close a relationship with your birds as you hope.

  2. To train them, take one out of the cage and take it into another room.  There you can get the bird used to you by feeding it treats.

After that, put your finger up to its chest and say "step up"  Your pet bird should step up, unless its wings aren't clipped and it flies away.  If that happens, get the wings clipped as soon as possible or it could hurt itself.

To have the bird eat out your hand, put a treat in your hand and have the bird step up into your hand.  The lovebird will usually start snacking on the treat.

  3. The main thing to really remember is that you can't stop training them, you always need to pet them, etc. To perch on your finger put your finger in front of their legs so it barely touches and say up. After a few weeks, all I had to do was put my finger and he got on. To eat out of your hand, you need to put a very good treat in your hand and just keep encouraging them to eat out of your hand.
