  1. i don't think you can tape a digital signal through your vcr. you might need to upgrade to a dvd recorder. you can get them for about 150 and up. or get a D-VHS, but i bet you'd have better luck switching to a dvd

  2. I belive digital cable uses a digital scrambler technology similar to what DVDs have. you might try hooking the cable to an RF Modulator to turn it back to an analog signal. (wal-mart has them for like 20 bucks.)

    good luck,

  3. You need to set your VCR to record from channel 3. Even if you have it programmed to record a show, you need to tell it that the show is on channel 3. Or if you hook it up to the box using yellow, red, and white A/V cables, it needs to be set to input or aux.

Otherwise, you could quit using the VCR and get a DVR from your cable company.

  4. You probably need to make sure the vcr is on the right channel with your tv to record. I had this same problem when I had digital cable. Get Tivo or a dvr and it will record programs with out having to have tapes.

  5. You should get a DVD player.  The new systems are only compatible with DVD, so that is you problem.  I had the same problem a couple years ago and I was told it couldn't be done.
