  1. put seeds in a plastic zip lock bag....

    here's how.

put a paper towel in the bag.... it should cover the entire back side.  place 4-5 beans.... lima, chick peas etc in the bag... then staple about 1 inch above.... all the way across the bag so the seeds won't "climb up the bag".... then, you can water them by adding water to the paper towel.  this will keep the seeds moist...without having them sit in the water which would rot them.

They will grow right up in the bag and the kids can see the root system, stem leaves and all.

email me if you need more specific info.

for pink.... have them mix red and white paint together... it gets the message across.

  2. think about the steps of gardening

    dig a hole

    plant a seed

    cover it up

    water it + sunlight

    wait for it to grow

cut out pieces of construction paper for each part and have the kids "garden" at their seats. then decorate the class with their planted seed pictures and one night after they all go home, glue paper cutouts of plants to their pictures so that tey think that the plants "grew" because they were gardening properly
