Other than putting it on sand and revving up the engine, is there a code to tell if it has limited slip? I just bought it. It's a rear drive.

  1. if it is, it is doubtfull that it came stock that way unless it was a special order when new, but someone could have put one in prior to you owning it. the only other way really is to pop off the diff cover and see if it just has regular spider gears or not.

  2. 1 tire fire = open diff

equal traction means ideal conditions.  those dont happen for long before 1 tire gets more traction than the other.

  3. on some of them , if you look at the cover plate and follow the bolts around , one bolt will have a tag on it. i have seen them state (limited slip) on that tag. the idea of flooring it and seeing if one tire or two makes a mark just makes me laugh. i have an open differential and still i can get equal marks down the road, all you need for that is good and equal traction.

  4. there should be a code tag inside the door jam, and a tag on the axle.  go to the link below to decode the tags

  5. Burn out with it and see if both wheels get engaged or not!!!
