How to tell if a bear in in your area?

in my back yard in columbia md. (central marylyand) i have found large areas of were something was lying down in trees also i have seen deer trails mecome much larger and wider is there a posibility that there could be a bear in my area

If the area is wore flat where the bear has laid then it is a bear, if a bear has been there the trail will be wide they will walk a deer trail, their foot prints will be of the same walking pattern every time they walk the same trail they always step in the same foot prints!*

bears can be anywhere , so its important to make noise when you go to area dont surprise them , some people suggest for brown & black bears  wearing bells & have a whistle for grizzly have a can of bear pepper spray handy. Dont run dont look them in the eye !!!!

the way to tell them apart is in their scat ( dung) brown & black will have little berries in theirs & grizzlys will have bells & whistles & smell like pepper spray, if mama has cubs back off real slow she might do a fake charge hold your ground she might run on by than she might not.

roll into a ball face down holding the back of your neck if she dosent  run by & decides she isnt hungry &  they say remain still while shes attacking but i think I would fight back if attacked , remain still long time after they leave, than go into your room & change your shorts. When in doubt get a adult. remember a bear can run alot faster than you thought you ever could & they can almost climb to a top of a tree!!!

if you live in the woods yes im sure there are bears in your area...how to tell if they take dumbs in your yard or near or you see bear tracks....or if you have stuff outside and it is getting moved around and messed with then you can count on it there is a bear in your yard but even if its not in your yard they are in your area.....we have plently here in arkansas

Look for scat, tracks and claw marks on trees.

Look for the p**p..  paw tracks in mud or dirt too, ..  look up online for what they look like..  if u ever see one, u will never mistaken it.
