How to tell if a cockatiel egg is fertilized?

i got a new girl cockatiel like 2 days ago, and we already had 2 males. and they went in her cage for a while, and the next day she laid an egg. is it fetilized? how can i tell? and it cracked too..and she was pecking at it. is that normal?

  1. If the egg is cracked, even if it is fertilized, it will not hatch.


  2. If it cracked it won't hatch. Female cockatiels will lay eggs whether or not there is a male present, so they won't always be fertile. You can try candling to egg by holding it up to a very bright light and looking for anything inside. If you don't want babies, just throw the eggs away.

  3. was she pregant when you got her? no way did she lay an egg in a day. It is probably infirtile. Let her finish playing with it then remove it. Sometimes a female will lay an egg without mating or even when no other bird is around.
