I have been incubating 1 duck egg. I had 2 ducks and the female got badly sick and died. I Have been incubating it for 8 days. Well I candled it on day 4 and I saw I thought a heartbeat. Well I saw close to it on the other side the same thing. It looked like the same thing. I dont know if there is two chcks growning or what. Its the size of a back of an eraser on a pencil. Its day 8 and I dont know if they died but it wasnt there until 2 days ago. I though I saw veins like thing. I supose what givers the yolk to it.

1.) How do you know if its alive. I still have 20 days left to see if it will hatch. Shouldnt it be bigger than back of an eraser?

2.) Is it possoble that there are two embryos? Will one of them survive or not?

3.) Is there any website that shows a similar pic of day 8 of ducks incubation. See if its forming well.?

Should I wait a while b4 I crack it?

If you want I can send you to show you what it looks like, I drew it bethbethani@yahoo.com email me to let me no.

  1. hold it up to a light and check for veins.

  2. you check to see if the egg is heavy enough to contain a embryo or put it in a incubator to see if the egg will hatch

  3. DO NOT EVER CRACK A EGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! do you see any veins? hold it up to a flashlight and see what you see then add what you see to additional details and i can go from there to tell you wut to do!

  4. Go in a pitch black room and go a flashlight or some other light and hold it up to the egg, you should be able to tell how many babies are inside

  5. You can do a water test, look it up on a bird care website, and place it in water (not cold, not hot)... Gently... If it ripples the water on it's own, there is movement.
