How to tell if its a girl or boy??

Question

i posted a question regarding my sweet cockatiel :)the bird has no fear of me at all..so heres another. i think it may be a girl cuz she/he turns around and raises her/his behind to me and coos..lol..and nestles rite up to me..?? this bird i swear chose me in the store i got it from..does this mean it has chose me as a mate..lol..if so how awesome is that???

The only way to know for sure on most species of birds that are not dimorphic gender wise is to have a blood test done at your local avian vet. Sometimes bird shops can do it too. They simply trim a nail short enough to bleed and then send it into a testing company. Usually around fifty bucks. Some people say you can tell by behavior but good luck with that. It really doesn't matter unless you are planning on breeding.

Cockatiels are one of the hardest birds to s*x. I have just found out 3 weeks ago that my female cockatiel is a boy. the way we established the s*x was by his cheek patches. I bought a girl cockatiel about a week after finding out my girl was a boy (so they can have babies) and when i look at them both you can see an obvious difference. Post a picture on here and i will come back and have a look and tell you what i think.

Thats kind of trippy because thats what my first cockatiel did at the pet store! i had a cockatiel chosen out and it was getting its wing cut when another bird flew out of the cage and onto my shoulder. I quickly changed my mind about which one i got! it must be on their nature!
