How to tell if my cat has had her kittens?

My cat is pregnant and has been outside for at least 2 weeks. She has just recently came back home and does not want to leave the house. She has some discharge on her tail but her belly still feels hard. Has she had her kittens already or is she about to have them soon?

  1. It sounds like she is still pregnant. When she has the kittens her stomach will be soft, much like a woman is after labor. We put our cat in a large kennel and covered it over with a blanket. Just to insure that she and her babies would be safe, and the blanket was to give her privacy.

  2. It sounds like she hasn't had them yet. Once she does, she won't want to leave them. Provide her with a cardboard box and some old towels to give birth on. It should be somewhere private and where she and the kittens can stay for at least a few weeks.

  3. Do not let her outside until she has had the kittens please.
