How to tell if my subwoofers work...I have no amplifier.?

I bought some subs off a friend for 30$. Well before you go flying off the handle and telling me I should have listened to them first, i will explain, the box these subwoofers are in can be sold for way more than 30$. that is the reason i bought them. Anyway, I do not want to buy an amplifier for them until it is proven that they work. Is there any way to test them out without an amplifier? just a thought. any help would be appreciated thanx.

  1. No you need and amp, i dont think your friend would have sold you subwoofers that do not work. Find another friend with an amp and hook it up u kno.

  2. to test a speaker without an amp, get some thin wire and hook it up to a battery (9 volt to 12 volts) ((NEVER to more than 12 volts))  a car battery will work fine

Hook up a positive and and negative and tap the speaker connectors for a half second.  If the speaker gives you a good THUD sound, the speaker is good.  If you get nothing, then thats what you got.

  3. well if your friend would really sell something thats broken?? ok

subs are speakers  ok  just tap them into any speaker wire/  like a home theater   stereo  anywhere you would a speaker

its going to sound bad and scratch but you will be satisfied that they make noise

but really- if they look good  they are good
