How to test a MAF sensor on a 2001 1.8T VW Golf?

Question

Anyone know how to using a volt meter? Please dont respond by telling me just to unplug it. I want to test it to see if I need to replace it.

Is your engine light on or is your car accelerating with a shutter to it? I would get your car vag-com'ed (VWs diagnostic system) if the engine light is on, or at least a code reader at any mechanic shop.

if you disconnect the MAF sensor your check engine light will turn on. your engine will work bad. that means that the senor works. if your check engine light is on go to AUTO ZONE. they check for free!
