How to test for a website accessibility?

i need to know how to test the hardware and software of my website for accessibility. what is it required for a website to be accessible?

please help!!!

  1. Accessiblity means you can view the site from all available web browsers. Test it in IE6 .IE7, mozilla, Opera, Netscape Navigator, Safari. If you have viewed the site in these browsers with thesame result then the site is accessible.  


  2. http://www.w3.org/WAI/ makes a good starting point for learning about web accessibility.

    http://www.sitesifter.co.uk/ is a useful tool to automate large chunks of it.

  3. You should read up on web accessibility at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_accessi... There is a whole lot that you will need to test to determine if people with varying abilities or with disabilities are able to use your web site.

    P.S. Accessibility does not mean that the web site should look the same from different browsers. Such a thing would be classed as "browser compatibility testing" or something similar.
