  1. Put in a tee-nipple-tee-nipple-valve-

    bushing-tire air valve

Don't install tire air valve yet

    Second tee-bushing-pressure Gage

Fill pipe with water until it over flows through bushing for tire air valve.

    Install tire air valve.

Use bicycle pump to pump air pressure in pipe up to twice working pressure.

Check for leaks with soap solution

    Close valve

    Record air pressure

Check in 24 hours.  If no leaks, pressure will not have changed

  2. This is performed with a fluid of very low compressibility, often water, but sometimes oil or hydraulic fluid. Pressure testing with compressible fluids, such as air, is not done because of the danger of an explosion.

Pressure testing should be performed by someone trained to do so. Even at seemingly low pressures, a lot of energy can be stored in the system, making for a dangerous situation. Trapped pressure - pressure that can't get released until certain parts are disassembled - is particularly insidious.

You also need to be more clear on your requirements - Are you testing for pressure containment by the pipes, or are you testing for collapse resistance of the pipes? What pressure must you be able to handle routinely? What is the maximum ever expected? What safety factor is required?
