How to throw a party for a new kid in town?

We are moving to the DFW area and around the time we are moving, my daughter will start school and then a few weeks later she will turn 8 yrs old. She is use to having a birthday party,even with the kids in school. Should I invite the entire class to a birthday party or should I just select some kids that she makes friends with? I was thinking of inviting all the kids in her class to a Get To Know Megan Party instead of Just a Birthday Party? Any suggestions pls let me know!! Thanks for your time in reading my problem!!!

i think thats a good idea... also you will be able to get to know the other kids parents, and make friends yourself. invite the teacher as well

It is a very good idea to invite the class plus teacher to a birthday party *** getting to know you as your family is new to the area.  It has the ice-breaking effect and after the party, you & your family will be no more new.

One advice, for kids no need to be too grand or else there is a show-off effect on your part.  Keep it simple and fun for the kids and more snack & finger-food ---- easy to eat type.  Add in some door gift for them, the kids so that they will be very happy and will remember the day for a long time.   Enjoy your happy party.

When me and my daughter moved when she was 7, I invited all of the kids in her class over for a party like that and it was so much fun. So yeah, you combine it with the birthday party.

Word the invatation like this:

______is turning 8, but she's also new to town! Come on down to_______'s house ____________ at ___;_____ am/pm on _______ _____, ______ for a Happy Birthday and Welcome to The Town Party. There will be cake, games and a lot of fun! Please RSVP by _______ _______,_____.

Don't forget to include your adress!

I think the get to know party is a great idea. Invite all the class n while ur at it invite the teacher!
