Question:

How to track cash dividends in Yahoo! Transaction Portfolio?

In my Yahoo! Finance Transaction Portfolio, when I click on Filters, I see the option to select "Cash Div." (not to mention spinoff, split, etc). However, there is no way to enter your own Cash Dividends through the New Transactions page, and Yahoo doesn't track cash dividends given out by stocks in your holdings.

Does anyone know how to track cash dividends manually, or if there's some way to "turn it on"?

Thanks in advance.

  1. It's really annoying that Yahoo! doesn't automatically track dividends.  One option is to enter it as a cash transaction, labeling it as interest income.  However, this makes tracking returns by security a real mess.

I suggest you check out Morningstar's portfolio tracker. It automatically tracks dividends and provides a number of handy tools to analyze your portfolio. Website: www.morningstar.com.

    Hope that helps...
