  1. run5 miles and dribble a basketball

  2. cross country im not too sure about. i ran it one year and i just ran a few miles a day. but im a huge basketball player and its necessary to work on ball handling! no matter what position you play. training wise. work on explosive sprints and you need to make ur first step incredibly fast. also this is what i do. take a half court and start in the jump circle...def slide to the left (all the way to the sideline) backpedal to the baseline. slide to the other sideline. sprint foward. diagonal slide to the freethrw line spring to where the sideline n half court line meet then diagonal slide to the freethrw line again. then back pedal to the basline and then karaoke back up to the half court line. i do this for good conditioning and footwork. work on an open step and work your calvs alot. i can do all of this in 27 seconds. cross country n bball are very different cross country is a paced thing basketball is explosive and very quick. hope this helped :)

  3. I run cross country and play basketball. The two sports require different kinds of conditioning, so you will have to somewhat separate your cross country workouts with your basketball workouts. If you want to try to intermix the workouts, here are a few options. Instead of just shooting around in the gym, mix conditioning and basketball workout. When practicing your free throws, set a goal. Lets say you want to make 17 out of 20. For every free throw you miss under 17 run a down and back, or a line drill (depending on how hard you want to condition that day). This way you work on free throws and conditioning for both basketball and cross country. If you want to work on your 3 point shot, for every 3 you make give yourself a point, for everyone you miss give your imaginary opponent a point. Play a game to 21, if you win you don't have to run, if you lose run a double line drill.

That will not be enough to get you in shape for cross country though. Line drills are short sprints with quick turns and changes of speed (just like you run in a real basketball game). It does help your overall conditioning, but in a different way than you need for cross country. Cross country requires you to keep a long and steady pace, not short sprints with quick speed changes. Training for XC is simple: get outside and run. Put your IPOD earphones in and go for a jog. Mix up how hard your workouts are each day. One day you may want to run 5 miles at a nice and steady speed. The next day you might run 2 miles at race speed, finishing the run with a sprint to the finish.

Although you can somewhat mix basketball and cross country workouts, your going to need to separate the workouts at times as well.

    Hope I helped.
