me mollie and lucas, we go up the street to play in a open field. it is next to the road but barely any cars go there.

lucas will come when called and won't run away, but Mollie i cannot trust she is too nosy and trots off into the woods and luca will follow her, so i keep her on a extension leash but i cannot run around with them and mollie runs very slow and i want her to play freely around with luca and me.

what if we went on a long walk then would they be too tired to run away? this is what i do to get them to stay in the yard, but i dont want any of my dogs getting hit by a car or running away.

  1. If you do not trust your dog's off leash recall, then dont take her to an unfenced area right next to the road.  Even tired dogs will still take off if something catches their eye.

To answer your question, YES you can teach a stay off leash in distraction.  Take a look at some of the videos on this page - http://unleashedunlimited.com/videos/  Is this what you are looking for?

However, I dont think you are getting to get enough quality information on a message board, have you tried looking for a trainer that can help you?
