  1. learn to use the speed bag. practice to be fast by forces your hands to move that way. also don't always train with heavy gloves. use lighter gloves on the heavy bag. also when your hands start to get faster you will then need to make your feet faster to keep up with your hands.

  2. first get a speed bag and a boxing bag

second after my 2 years of study on ali i've realized that you should make your arm diagonal

  3. speed bag (aka known as striking bag). dont listen to isaac, he cant even spell muhammad's name and he is one of the sport's legends

  4. Speed bag is # 1. Punching mits if you get someone to help out)  Alot of sparing with 18oz gloves will work too.

Ok first off the speed bag is the best but takes alot of time and practice to master. Combo mits are a good way to start.

Have a buddy hold onto couch pillows or somthing padded, you put the gloves on, another guy holds a timer, throw combinations, over time check your time to see if your getting faster.  Have your buddy move the mits around to different places, while hes moving his hands you try and hit them. It will improve your hand eye coordination and speed.

Clap hand puchups are another way to build speed and power. Do a push up like normal (mabey starting out you could do it the girly knee way) except push up faster and bring your hands off the floor and clap them together then back down, repeat till you feel the burn then rest, repeat, incorporate these push ups into your workout routine and you will slowly build power and speed.

Punch up, Punch Down, Punch strait while running in place. Punch up in the air for 30 seconds, then punch strait for 30 seconds, then low for 30seconds, keep repeating untill you cant take anymore and feel like pukeing.

Shadow boxing is not meant for speed, its meant for learning and practising punches. If you try and throw fast while shadow boxing your just going to pull a muscle or hurt your arm bad. When your shadow boxing take it slow, work on combos not speed or power.

Another lazier trick is too wear wrist weights around all day for everthing you do. Everyday weather you look like a r****d or not.

To throw a faster jab, start in a basic boxing stance (gloves both up in front of your face. When you throw a jab dont throw from the shoulder or arm, Throw the punch from the elbow, snap your forearm forward from the elbow and turn your fist over, it wont hurt the guy but itsd a way to land the jab first.

Speed is technique and training. And some people are born fast and will always be faster no matter how much you train.

Lastly, go join a golden gloves.

Issac ? lol, Arm diagonal? what the **** is that? you have to elaborate on that or else you just look like you dont know what your talking about................................... duh

  5. Speed bag does nothing for the following:

    -speed

    -power

    -accuracy

    Its uses are as follows

    -Building up tricept endurance

    -proving that you box

as for speed, do what the pros do, strap 5 pounders to your arms when you train, and then a week before your match take them off to get you timing down again.

  6. Many people recommend holding some light weights in your hands while shadow boxing but others say this can cause injury and put excess strain on the body. A lot of people do, do it.

Don't be a hero and use massive dumbbells you're supposed to do it with light weights though I can't remember why. Maybe it's the injury issue.
