How to transfer an lp album to cd or mp3?

I have a few lp (old records or 78) that I want to transfer to cd or mp3 how much would the device to do this coast? or to get it done?

You will need a turntable (record player) a Hi-Fi amp or a pre-amp which you can connect to the line input of your computer. You will also need some recording software which could be a freebie like Audacity or something like 'spin it again' which is about $35.00 but will make the job so much easier! It also has noise reduction and track splitting facilities built in which is ideal. If you are transferring 78 rpm records then you will need a different type of turntable to play these.  There's a free 'how to' article at soundabout.net
