If I want to record a tv program, say OSCARS, and the only way I could do it is to use my vcr to record, is there anyway I could transfer the footage to cd or record that vcr footage on my DV cam using the cables. In short, is there any way to transfer or record the VCR recorded footage of cassette to DV cam or DVD, using the cables provided. And is there anyway I could record stuff from Cable channels, since there is no way to connect to vcr and only dv cam>?

  1. Well first, CD's are for data or music, not Video.   So you could transfer the audio portion of the program to your PC and then burn that to a cd using simple cables.

If your looking to transfer Video to your computer,  you may be able to do it with your DV cam if it has a iLink aka 1394 aka firewire connection and your PC does too.  For transferring video from your VCR to computer, you would need a capture card.  Generally, the more $$$ the capture card is, the better the results.

  2. The only way to go from VHS to DVD is by 2 methods:

    1. Take it to a professional converter of VHS to DVD, or

    2. Buy a unit that allows you to copy VHS onto your computer, (yes, they are available).

There really is no other way i can think of?

    Ah well, best of luck!

Enjoy, (I hope this was of some use to you!)
