I'll be on a cruise in mid-august. After we return we have to catch a flight. So what are the available options of transfer from the port to the airport (train, bus, etc)? and how much will it cost ?

  1. I have cruised out of Barcelona twice and will give you my experiences.  The first cruise we came back to Barcelona, arriving about 7:00 AM and our flight out was not until about 5:00PM.  So we booked a city tour that included a drop off at the airport after the tour;  we got to the airport about 3:00PM.

The second time our flight was about 1:00 PM and we took a taxi to the airport.  There will be plenty of taxis, a whole line of them.  The fare was about 35-40 Euros, plus tip.

The Barcelona port is right downtown separated from the city by a waterway and so there a bridge over it to get to the city.  So its not a walkable distance, especially with luggage.  The airport is about 30 to 40 minutes away by taxi, depending upon how heavy the traffic is.  When we went by taxi we got over the bridge fine but encountered morning rush traffic that delayed getting on the freeway to the airport.  Once on the freeway its about 15 to 20 minutes.

I think the Taxi would be your best option unless you want to tour the city and have a late afternoon flight which would permit that.  Ship's transfers will likely be $35 to $40 per person; a taxi $35-$40 Euros.

  2. Hi, In my experience a taxi is about 20 euros to the airport. But you also have the option of a train from either Sants or Passeig de Gracia stations - takes about 20 minutes and runs every 20 minutes.

You can also take a bus from Plaza Catalunya, they go about every 10 minutes.

If you have lots of luggage a taxi is probably best.

  3. Check with your travel agent you can  buy transfers from the cruise ship to the airport  for early morning departure.  If your plane leaves later you best bet is to take a city tour that drops you off at the airport also through the cruise lines.  The taxi rides are very expensive based on the Euros and they charge for extra luggage as well.  Barcelona is a beautiful city and well worth a little extra to take the city tour....the bonus they drop you off at the airport.
