  1. What format is the video in your computer now?

But no matter which one it is, you can create so called VCD = mpeg1 compression, uses classical CD not DVDs (won't record nor play on DVD disc), 80 minutes fits on one CD. Quality is equal of a "new videocassette".

If your movie is shorter, you can go for SVCD (mpeg2 connection, but less quality than DVD). One CD can fit 40-60 minutes depending on bitrate you set.

Quality is visibly higher than VCD and it actually could be recorded on DVD disc, so than one DVD disc fits several hours.

You can use one of many mpeg1 (VCD) encoders. One example is program tmpgenc, which is free for VCD and SVCD (if you wanna encode DVD, you'd have to have paid licence)

But you can use any encoder. There is plenty of both paid and free.
