How to transfer recording from verizon dvr to computer!?

hi i'm pretty familiar with technology but i cant figure out how to transfer recording from my dvr to my computer, not in real time. it (the verizon box) has the ieee 1394 port on it. should i just run the cable from that to my computer and look for the harddrive on windows explorer? any help would be appreciated. Please do NOT answer if ur just gonna say "idk" or "PS3 rules". Okay? Thanks!

I have a DVR box from Time Warner Cable, but it should be the same almost. Their should be a connector in the front or back that looks like a USB port. That is what your gonna wanna plug into from your Box to Computer. Mines straight up USB so I think yours should be also from the way it sounds. Idk if that ieee is what your gonna wanna use. Look for a USB port, if not, try that port cause thats basically how you do it. Box to PC, then check your HDD.
