How to transfer shows to a DVD?

Question

I've got a DP Plus 522 (AKA Dish Player-DVR), and I was wondering if it's possible to record shows, (after I've recorded the shows with the DVR) and put them on a DVD. The DVR has a hard drive and is able to connect with internet but I was looking for an alternative way to get the shows without having to mess around with the hard drive or set it up with internet.

I would like to keep the shows that I've recorded but also have room to record new shows.

I've got a DVD recorder hooked up between my tv and the DVR.  I understand that newer units may have copy write protection on movies, but I haven't seen complaints on tv shows.
