Question:

How to transfer sound from PC to TV?

I have a Plasma and a computer. I connected my computer to the TV with a DVI cable, which has an adaptor at one end for HDMI, so I get the best picture quality. Now all I want to do is transfer sound. I bought a Audio cable (red and white jacks on both ends), and I connected it to my TV and then to my computer, by putting an adaptor at one end which gives it the audio plug the computer has. But I still don't hear anything?

  1. Which jack on the sound card, did you plug it into?

  2. Im sorry to report this.. but you wont hear anything. HDMI and DVI are the same quality.. but the difference is that HDMI carrys audio signal as well...DVI carries no audio .. since you used the DVI to HDMI adapter.. you lose the sound...You have the setup right.. but I bet you if you change the Video input on your TV to the input the RCA audio jack uses.. you would hear sound.. but no video because you switched from the HDMI input  (remember HDMI is surpose to carry audio and video.) . what you would have to do is go buy a new video card (if you have a desktop) that has HDMI output on it. You can go to circuit city and get one for about $100 or $120.. but that is your best bet
